    Locate Management's Underground Facility Locator (UFL) Certificate Program

    Our UFL Certificate Program, endorsed by the Canadian Association of Pipeline and Utility Locating Contractors (CAPULC), consists of 3 stages to achieve recognition as a trained locator. The program adheres to the three stages of Underground Facility Locator Competency Cycle:

    UFL Certificate Program

    Step 11: Complete online Underground Facility Locator knowledge course(s) - $250.00 per course

    • PALL (Petroleum Advanced Line Locating)
    • TALL (Transmission Advanced Line Locating)
    • UALL (Utility Advanced Line Locating)

    Step 22: Complete a Two-Day Locator Field training course - $500.00 per course

    • Practical hands on training
    • On-the-job training

    Step 33: Initial Assessment(s), utilizing the Underground Facility Locator Manual4 - $50.00 per manual

    • Verification of knowledge and skills

    The Underground Facility Locator's Field Task Competency Manual (the "UFL Manual") represents the third and final stage in the UFL Competency Cycle. 

    1 Step 1 must be completed before completing step 2.
    2 Step 2 training location must be selected upon registration. Hotel and meals not included. PPE must be worn.
    3 Step 3 is completed throughout the 2-days of field training. Students demonstrate tasks and procedures and the instructor signs-off in the student’s manual upon completion.
    4 Step 3 each student receives a copy of the UFL manual and is assigned a unique UFL # that is tracked.
